Objective

Kitchee Sports Council was established in 1931, making us one of the clubs in Hong Kong with the most history. We have experienced many trials and tribulations over time, but thankfully we believe that it has only served to make our community spirit stronger. Over the years, we have spared no effort to promote sport in Hong Kong. We are pleased that we have helped to find and develop many talented and successful people in Hong Kong football whilst always maintaining our aim to promote the spirit of sport.

Kitchee’s glory days were in the in the early 60’s and we are pleased to say that since our reshuffle of staff and players in 2003 we are moving back up the league standings. In 2005 Kitchee was a silver medal winner and we earned our first League Cup.

In 2003, it was the decision of our general manager, Mr Ken Ng, to revamp our team and with the support of other enthusiastic footballers we are now nurturing a new generation of battlers for the League title in Hong Kong, with noticeable success already. Our purpose is to play beautiful football for our fans to enjoy. Looking to the future, Kitchee is committed to continue the promotion of Hong Kong football and to present a more exiting game for our loyal fans.

Aside from our pursuit of excellence on the court, for three years Kitchee has been focusing our efforts into creating a positive and professional image of football to secondary and primary school pupils. We continuously urge our players to establish and maintain a professional personal image in order to become model citizens to Hong Kong’s teenage population. In addition, Kitchee encourages its players to participate in cadet coaching jobs; on the one hand it will benefit them upon retirement from professional football but also it enables them to engage with the youth of Hong Kong and therefore fulfil their social responsibility as professional footballers.

Since the summer of 2004, Kitchee has hosted 4 off-site events against foreign sides. IN 2004 we hosted Italian leagues leader AC Milan, Newcastle and Manchester. In 2005 we hosted the Italian league leader Juventus as well as Shanghai Shenhua. More valuable than any result of these games is the charity aspect: Kitchee managed to raise mire than HK$4.5 million in donations for United Christian Hospital.
