Kitchee are delighted to announce the signing of Jakob Jantscher. The Austria international will wear the No.89 shirt.

The 34-year-old striker began his career at Austrian football club SK Sturm Graz before securing different moves across Europe, including Red Bull Salzburg, Dynamo Moscow, and NEC Nijmegen. Jantscher rejoined SK Sturm Graz in 2018 and named Austrian Bundesliga Player of the Year in 2021/22 season. Prior to joining Kitchee, Jantscher was named in the squad for SK Sturm Graz in the UEFA Champions League Third qualifying round against PSV Eindhoven and the recent Austrian Bundesliga league match against Austria Lustenau. He also has won 23 caps for Austria, including his participation in the 2016 UEFA Euro.

“Jantscher’s technical ability is unquestionable, and he is capable of playing as a striker or he can also operate in both wide positions. We are about to start our ACL journey, and his arrival can definitely enhance the technical quality, dynamism, and depth in the team.” Head Coach Alex Chu expressed his excitement for the Austrian veteran.

“Having left SK Sturm Graz for the second time in my career wasn’t easy at all. I left the club for the first time for a new challenge when I was 21, and I left the club for the second time with the same purpose at the age of 34. This is going to be my first time playing in Asia, and I am really looking forward to the challenges ahead.” Jakob Jantscher shared the reasons behind of leaving during the farewell ceremony at SK Sturm Graz the past weekend.

Head Coach Alex Chu stated that Jakob Jantscher’s potential Kitchee debut could be set on the upcoming fixture against Eastern on Saturday(September 2).
