Kitchee faced off against Rangers in the quarterfinals of League Cup at Mong Kok Stadium on 11 Oct, securing a convincing 3-0 win to progress to the semifinals.

This match marked the debut of Ainikaer Maihemuti, and 17-year-old Lam Pak Yin also started for the first time. In the first half, Kitchee created a couple of scoring opportunities: Yumemi Kanda set up Leandro Martínez for a shot that was saved under pressure, and just before halftime, Kendy's cross from the left found Adrián Revilla, whose narrow-angle effort was also saved, with Kanda's follow-up going wide. The first half ended in a stalemate at 0-0.

Kitchee broke the deadlock just two minutes into the second half. Kanda combined with Revilla on the right, and from a tight angle, he managed to beat the opposing goalkeeper, giving Kitchee a 1-0 lead. In the 76th minute, Kanda delivered another cross from the right, allowed Kendy to unleash a powerful shot at the back post, extending the lead to 2-0.

In stoppage time, Kendy took a corner from the right, and Kim Shin-wook made a strong near-post header to score. Kitchee ultimately won 3-0 against Rangers, advancing to the semifinals of the League Cup.
