Last Saturday (March 7), the Kwoon Chung Bus 60th Anniversary FA Cup quarter-final between Kitchee and Tai Po at Mong Kok Stadium ended in a 1-1 draw after 120 minutes. Kitchee were ultimately defeated 6-5 on penalties, exiting the competition with a total score of 7-6.
Despite conceding in the 10th minute, Kitchee responded with a well-worked team goal in the 33rd minute. Adrian Revilla found the net following an assist from Ruslan Mingazov on the right flank. The second half remained balanced as both teams created chances, even after Tai Po were reduced to ten men in the 84th minute. With no further goals in extra time, the match proceeded to a penalty shootout.
Pong Cheuk Hei produced a save in the third round, but Jay Haddow’s fifth-round effort was stopped, sending the shootout into sudden death. Ultimately, Wong Ho Chun Anson’s penalty was saved, ending the shootout 6-5 in Tai Po’s favour and bringing Kitchee’s FA Cup campaign to a narrow end.
