Defending champions Kitchee shift their focus to the League Cup semi-final as they face Kowloon City at Mong Kok Stadium on Wednesday night (March 18).
The two sides meet just four days after their HKPL clash last Saturday (March 14), where Kitchee secured a dominant 4–0 home victory. Despite that, Head Coach Iñigo Calderón cautioned his squad against reading too much into the result. “I don't really like [the 4-0 result]. I would prefer to win just 1-0, because now it looks like it was easy”, Calderón warned. “It's not going to be the same game at all. It's a different pitch, and we know that affects our style of play”.
While Calderón admitted his primary focus remains on the league, the opportunity to win the League Cup remains a vital priority. “I do prefer the league because it shows the true level of the team over time. But as I told the boys: right now, we are the best in the league, but the reality is we are already out of two cups. We have to make sure we aren’t knocked out of this third one. This is our chance to win another title, so tomorrow we have to deliver”.
