Kitchee fought back to earn a 2-2 draw against Tai Po in the HKPL U-22 League on Tuesday evening (April 14) at Wu Shan Recreation Playground. The starting lineup featured Matthew Slattery, Thurain Tun, and Seb Buddle, alongside Law Tsz Chun, who made a significant return to action following a long-term injury.
It was a challenging first half for Kitchee, who struggled to find their rhythm despite an early opportunity where Slattery narrowly missed from a Li Siu Hin pass. Defensive lapses proved costly, as Kitchee conceded in the 23rd and 38th minutes to go into the break two goals down.
Kitchee emerged with renewed determination in the second half and successfully reduced the deficit in the 58th minute. Liang Kui Chung played a through ball to Li Siu Hin, whose immediate cross from the right found Chan Shing Chun to strike home for 1-2. The constant pressure finally paid off in the 89th minute when a Tai Po handball resulted in a penalty, which Thurain Tun clinically converted to equalize. Kitchee nearly snatched a late winner after Chan forced a turnover to set up Slattery, but his effort was saved, leaving the points shared at the final whistle.
