Kitchee were held to a 2-2 draw by Golik North District in their Hong Kong Premier League fixture at Tai Po Sports Ground last Saturday (April 25).

The Blues entered the match with a depleted squad due to suspensions and injuries. Jay Haddow, Kendy, and Club Captain Tan Chun Lok were all serving suspensions, while Asier Illarramendi and Roger Riera remained sidelined through injury. Ruslan Mingazov, Callum Beattie, and Cheng Chin Lung were named among the substitutes as they manage minor fitness concerns, alongside newly promoted youngster Poon Wing Kei. Notably, Chan Shing Chun was handed his first professional start, slotting into the defensive midfield role.

The first half was a balanced affair until the closing stages, when Kitchee were awarded two penalties in quick succession. Both Leandro Martínez and Júnior converted from the spot, giving Kitchee a 2-0 lead heading into the break. However, the momentum shifted early in the second half. Just seven minutes after the restart, Golik North District were awarded a penalty of their own, which they successfully converted to halve the deficit.

Kitchee looked set to claim all three points as the match neared its conclusion, but a late clearance fell to a Golik North District player outside the area. His long-range volley found the back of the net to level the scores, leaving both sides to share the points at the final whistle.
