In the Hong Kong Premier Youth League Second Stage Playoff last Friday (May 8), Kitchee U16 defeated BC Rangers U16 4-2 to be crowned this season’s overall Champions.
Kitchee U16 reached the final as Second Round winners with an impressive record of 13 wins and 1 draw, facing off against First Round winners BC Rangers U16. In this title-deciding fixture, Kitchee got off to a perfect start as Fong Chun Kit scored in the 6th minute from a quick free-kick, before doubling the lead with a brace in the 25th minute. While Kitchee U16 conceded from a corner just before the interval, they maintained a 2-1 lead at the break.
Lam Ka Fung Jonas restored the two-goal advantage to make it 3-1 in the 65th minute. Despite a late response from BC Rangers, Ma Lok Sephrey intercepted the ball in the 89th minute and clinicaly finished from the edge of the box to secure the 4-2 victory, confirming Kitchee U16 as the season’s overall Champions.
