Kitchee launched their 2026/27 Hong Kong Premier League campaign with a hard-fought 3-2 comeback victory over BC Rangers at Tsing Yi Sports Ground on Saturday (Aug 22).
New signing Everton Camargo scored twice, including a dramatic late winner, to hand the visitors all three points after a chaotic second half.
Kitchee manager handed debuts to four summer signings, with Marcos Santos, Everton, Dudu, and Koldo Obieta all named in the starting line-up.
The visitors execution was sharp from the outset. Just ten minutes in, Everton won a free-kick before curling a precise effort into the net to open the scoring.
Rangers responded with sustained pressure before the interval, but Kitchee goalkeeper Pong Cheuk Hei produced a string of fine saves to preserve the slim lead at halftime.
The match ignited after the break. Everton squandered a golden opportunity to double the lead on a counter-attack, and Kitchee were instantly punished.
Rangers struck twice in five minutes, scoring in the 56th and 61st minutes to turn the game on its head and lead 2-1.
Kitchee rallied as Obieta won a penalty during a corner-kick scramble in the 71st minute. The debutant composed himself to convert from the spot and restore parity.
The decisive moment arrived 13 minutes from time. Everton picked out Obieta inside the box, whose low cross sparked a goalmouth scramble, allowing Everton to poke home his second of the afternoon.
The victory provides Kitchee with a perfect start to the 2026/27season as they secure all three points in their opening fixture.
