Kitchee shared points on Saturday (August 29) after battling to a scoreless 0-0 draw against Golik North District at the North District Sports Ground in the BOC Life Hong Kong Premier League.
New signing Víctor Camarasa made his starting debut for Kitchee, anchoring the midfield alongside Chan Shing Chun and former North District midfielder Kendy. Kitchee created an early chance when Ruslan Mingazov connected with Kendy’s pass, but his shot was denied by the Golik North District goalkeeper. Golik North District then threatened twice, but Kitchee custodian Pong Cheuk Hei made a vital save before Marcos Santos cleared another effort off the goal line.
Head Coach Íñigo Calderón introduced Júnior and Asier Illarramendi early in the second half to boost the attack. Júnior immediately set up Everton Camargo with a precise through ball into the box, but the winger's strike was denied. In the 75th minute, Júnior connected with an Everton cross for a close-range header but suffered an injury during the play and was replaced by Cheng Chin Lung.
Cheng nearly clinched a late winner after controlling Jay Haddow's cross with his chest in the box, but his subsequent shot was cleared off the line by a North District defender. Despite a flurry of late tactical adjustments from Calderón, neither side could break the deadlock, and the match ended 0-0.
